Google Star Wars Makeover

Will you follow the path of the Jedi or the Sith? This is the burning question you must ask yourself as you customize your Google apps and devices in a cool new way. Google, Disney and Lucasfilm have teamed up to give Star Wars fans young and old a chance to customize their own experience through their apps with a “Star Wars makeover.”

Simply “google” Star Wars and the galaxy far, far away will make its way into your Google accounts. Anywhere from Gmail to my personal favourite, Google Maps, where your arrow indicator will switch over to vehicles from the series like a Tie Fighter.

Google's Star Wars Custom
Star Wars-ify your Google apps!

There will be a lot of other fun little touches added, and it ranges from backgrounds and skins to “guest appearances” from C-3PO and R2-D2 helping guide you to your Maps destination, to YouTube and Gmail loading bars transforming into lightsabers. Log into you Calendar app and see events from the Star Wars universe populating your days.

While it’s essentially an interactive ad campaign, it’s a blast… no pun intended! There is also a tally of sorts on the Google Star Wars page where there is a measure of how many people have chosen sides. As of early Monday evening, it’s a pretty even 50/50 split between the Light and the Dark. Users can also make a change to their initial choice at any time as well, so feel free to experiment.

What will you choose? Will you back the Rebels and the Light Side, or follow your inner demons and head to the Dark Side?
