Forspoken Delay Square Enix 2023
This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information.

Fans of Square Enix have been patiently awaiting their next release. While the studio works to finish Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, a new game is also in the works. Created by luminous productions, the subsidiary team designed to work on Final Fantasy 15, the title has seen development for quite a while now. After a quick reveal last September, many fans have been waiting for the upcoming release date. Yet after already facing a delay from March to October of 2022, many wonders why the development is so troubled. Now just a few months away from the projected release date, Square Enix is planning another delay on Forspoken. Despite releasing a statement on Twitter claiming the game to be finished, Forspoken will be delayed from late 2022 to early 2023.

Why Has Square Enix Delayed Forspoken So Much This Year?

While the given reasons are genuine, many wonder why they decided to confirm another delay so late. Almost three months out until the first delay is very little time for even development to have understood. Citing their concerns over polish, Square Enix assures fans that the main game is complete. As developers continue to release half-finished buggy releases, a publisher delaying adding polish is excellent news. After the disasters of many triple-A titles in the past few years, Square Enix more than likely wants to avoid another Marvel’s Avengers scenario. While the team is going strong, the extra time should hopefully help reduce launch day pains. Considering how many games launch with game-breaking bugs or glitches, it’s essential to get extra time. Taking attention to detail to ensure a complete product on release goes a long way. Forspoken’s newest delay pushes the release date back to January 24th, 2023.
