Pokémon GO How to Evolve Litleo
This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information.

Litleo is a Normal- and Fire-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO which can evolve into two different variations, depending on the cub’s gender. This Kalos Pokémon is characterized as a quadrupedal, leonine creature with dark brown fur. However, its paws, ears, tail tips, and face are pale brown. Litleo also possesses an orange-red mohawk-shaped tuft of fur on the center of its head. Conversely, this lion cub Pokémon has a Shiny variant with a much lighter coat of fur, excluding the reddish mohawk. Continue reading to learn how to evolve Litleo or its Shiny version in Pokémon GO.

Evolving Litleo in Pokémon GO

To evolve Litleo in Pokémon GO, Trainers must feed the cub Candy ×50. Once this is done, the Normal- and Fire-type Pokémon will turn into one of two variations of Pyroar. The male Pyroar has a large mane that flares out in a flame-like fashion, while the female Pyroar has a long elegant ponytail flowing from its crown.

As one might expect, the only way to get the male or female version of Pyroar is by evolving Litleo of the corresponding gender. Unfortunately, there’s no visual indication if Litleo is a girl or boy cub, so Trainers will need to catch the Pokémon first before they are able to distinguish its gender. Nevertheless, there is no disadvantage to capturing Litleo other than filling space in one’s Pokémon Storage. Moreover, those looking to evolve their Litleo in Pokémon GO will need to catch the cub to acquire Candy. There are several ways to farm Litleo Candy for Pyroar evolution:

  • Trainers can earn Catch Candy ×3 for every Litleo they catch. This number can be increased by feeding Litleo yellow Pinap Berries before throwing the Poké Ball. Keep in mind that the Berry will be lost if the capturing outcome is unsuccessful.
  • Trainers have a small chance of receiving Litleo Candy if they feed it Berries while inside a Gym. Of course, this method only applies to Gyms of the same team as the Trainer.
  • Walking Litleo is also an excellent passive way to earn Candy. Trainers will receive Candy every time they reach a kilometer milestone.
  • If the player has any extra Litleos in their Pokémon Storage, they can Transfer them in exchange for Candy. During specific live events, it is possible to receive bonus Candy during Transfers.

Once Trainers have acquired enough Candy for a male and female Litleo in Pokémon GO, they can evolve it into the corresponding Pyroar variant.

Pokémon GO is available on iOS and Android.
