Elemental Sight is an Exploration mechanic in Genshin Impact that allows Travelers to see Elemental Trails, also known as Elemental Traces. These traces can lead players to Bounties and their clues, Seelies and their Seelie Gardens, and particular Hidden Exploration Objectives. Furthermore, Elemental Sight will reveal the elemental attribute of nearby entities, such as enemies, NPCs, or interactable objects. For example, Exploding Barrels are of the Cryo Element and will therefore glow red, while Electro Slimes will shine purple. Nonetheless, Genshin Impact fans will likely use Elemental Sight most often for finding specific objectives during quests.

During the Event Quest, “The Golden Apple Vacation Returns!” in Genshin Impact‘s Summertime Odyssey, Travelers are required to “Use Elemental Sight to follow the traces” left behind by Fatui researchers. To use this ability, hold the Middle Mouse Button or press L1 and D-Pad Left on console. Alternatively, players can click or tap on the icon near the in-game minimap.

Genshin Impact fans playing on mobile platforms without a controller will need to use the third method of activating Elemental Sight mentioned above. On the HUD, look at the icons near the circular minimap display. On the left side, Travelers will notice the Paimon’s head, an icon that opens the in-game Pause Menu. On the right sits two more icons, the first being an eye-shaped reticule. Tap on this image to use Elemental Sight in Genshin Impact. When Elemental Sight is activated, some objects will change in color while others remain the same.

For the Summertime Odyssey Event Quest in Genshin Impact, Travelers will want to be on the lookout for a blue, glittery Elemental Trail that will appear for several seconds before vanishing. This trace will momentarily move in a serpentine motion towards the quest’s objective. Keep in mind that this glimmer can pass through solid objects, meaning that if the Elemental Trail travels straight into a wall, players will need to make their way around the obstacle to find the objective. Moreover, since the Elemental Trail is not permanent, Travelers must use Elemental Sight several times in order to discover the route to their goal. This process will be the same for other activities, such as hunting Bounties or searching for traces left behind Seelies.

Genshin Impact is available on PC, Android, iOS, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
