Cartoon Cartoons were the title given to most Cartoon Network original series from 1996 to 2003.  Many of these were produced by not only Cartoon Network Studios but by Hanna-Barbera, the studio behind such classics as The Flintstones, Tom and Jerry, and Scooby-Doo.  Many Cartoon Cartoons were beloved by their fans who, now being a bit older remember them through the lense of nostalgia.  Cartoon Network is well aware of this and has just announced the return of one of the most innovative shows, Samurai Jack.

Samurai Jack follows a samurai, Jack, who has been sent forewords in time to a dystopian future ruled by his nemesis the shapeshifting master of darkness, Aku. During its original run from 2001 – 2004 the show garnered much attention, including four Primetime Emmy Awards, for its unique art style and its visual storytelling among other things.

The new run of Samurai Jack is set to air on Adult Swim during their Toonami block of shows, starting in 2016.  When asked about Samurai Jack during an interview the creative force behind the show, Genndy Tartakovsky had this to say: “I feel like it’s time to maybe finish the story. We’ve been trying to get the feature(film) off the ground but maybe that’s just fate’s way of saying this is a television thing and maybe it should be a mini-series or something like that.”  We will all be able to see the results of his efforts starting next year.  Below is the shows new teaser trailer.
