The hype is steadily building for the future of virtual reality. People have been sharing their experiences in regard to Microsoft’s attempt to fit into the VR market. Microsoft Hololens differs from its VR cousins by utilizing augmented reality. The Oculus Rift and the PlayStation VR transport you to a whole new location. The Hololens enables you to use and modify your surroundings for your benefit. This AR experience can allow users to create gigantic TV screens wherever you desire or, as we’ve seen at E3, convert a standard table into a Minecraft experience.

Developer kits have been handed out, and the hashtag #MadeWithHololens has been trending on Twitter. Users have shared their experiences with their devices. Some have shared videos of Halo 5 and Netflix running on the machine. I am not sure how the footage was captured, but it does look genuine and pretty impressive. Check it out below.

The above video shows Halo 5 running at 1080p and 60fps. The user is playing on his regular TV. He then decides to turn around and project the image on his wall instead. They are using the streaming function between the Xbox One and Windows 10. The whole process seems extremely fluid and exciting.

The below video shows an example of how the majority of us would probably use the device by streaming Netflix. What should be noted here, though, is that the user has three screens running simultaneously. The premise of having multiple screens is thrilling as you could be watching multiple content at the same time or playing your favorite game with hints and tips on another screen.

It will be interesting to see how Hololens is received by general consumers. The VR headsets are aimed towards the gamers, but the diverseness of the Hololens could allow the device to appeal to a much wider audience. There is no definite release date for the device yet. However, it should be released in the first quarter of 2016.

How do you feel about virtual reality? Do you plan on purchasing Hololens? Let us know in the comments below.
