Last year, Sony announced they are working on a TV series based on the iconic PlayStation franchise, Twisted Metal. Today, Michael Jonathan, producer of the Twisted Metal TV series, announced that the show has officially wrapped filming for the first season.
The showrunner announced the news on his Twitter account and mentioned how the series was special for him. Michael went on to praise the cast for working as they were told despite some unforeseen extreme conditions. He also states that he is excited for the fans to see the representation of Twisted Metal that they’ve been working on.

What is the Twisted Metal TV Series about?
Twisted Metal is one of PlayStation’s most iconic franchises, with over five million copies sold to date. The Twisted Metal games are known for their adrenaline-boosting vehicular combat and are based around the “Twisted Metal” competition. The competition is a demolition derby and allows the use of missiles, machine guns, and other ballistic weapons.
However, the Twisted Metal TV series revolves around a motor-mouthed outsider who is offered a chance at a better life, but there’s a catch. He has to deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland successfully. The cast of the upcoming show includes Will Arnett (BoJack Horseman) and Anthony Mackie (Falcon, Captain America).
There is no release date announced for PlayStation and Peacock’s Twisted Metal TV series. Still, given that it has officially wrapped filming for the first season and will now enter the production stage, a late 2022 or a 2023 release seems reasonable.
PlayStation is booming in the entertainment industry right now. The gaming giant has multiple TV shows and movies in the works based on their IPs, including The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, Gran Turismo, Horizon, Days Gone, and of course, Twisted Metal.
