One of the Star Wars Universes most iconic characters, Boba Fett, has lost their voice. Actor Jason Wingreen has passed at the age of 95 in his home on Christmas Day. Boba Fett is arguably one of the most iconic figures in all of Star Wars, despite having around five lines in the original trilogy. Thanks to the expanded universe and Boba Fett’s awesome design, he lived on and has become as pop culture staple to this day. His voice was re-casted to Temuera Morrison after the release of the prequel trilogy to give the character a more consistent sound within the franchise.
Jason Wingreen has starred in Airplane!, Star Trek, The Twilight Zone, All In The Family, Archie’s Bunker Place, and episodes of Charlie’s Angels. With over 200 credits on his IMDB, it’s clear that Wingreen has had quite a successful acting career, despite not being credited until 2000 for the voice of Boba Fett in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Interestingly enough, Wingreen first auditioned for the voice of Yoda but was instead casted as the bounty hunter we all know and love. They replaced his voice, but Wingreen is still Boba Fett to me.
