Minecraft Live 2022 event has announced various new features (no biomes though!), including a creature called Sniffer. If you missed the memo, here’s everything you need to know — and everything we know so far — about the Sniffer, the mysterious new mob that has appeared in Minecraft 1.20 update. What is the Sniffer – Minecraft 1.20 Update New Mob
Sniffer is one of the two mobs that was introduced in the Minecraft 1.20 update, released in 2023. Mojang described the creature as an “ancient mob” and fans were speculating that it will have a connection with the Nether, the hellish alternate dimension filled with fire, brimstone, and the place where many hostile mobs live. However, Sniffer itself seems to be a passive, docile creature and won’t attack you.
This weird creature is said will hatch from Sniffer Eggs, which can be found in Ocean Monuments Chests. Once hatched, they can be utilized to find and dig out Ancient Seeds, a new item that will allow players to grow new types of decorative Plants. While these Plants will not provide any in-game buffs or benefits, they will serve as a unique decoration to place within one’s home. Therefore, having a spot to place the decor will be something players can do to get ready for the Sniffer’s arrival in the game.
Minecraft Live 2022 Mob Vote Result
The Sniffer, Rascal, and Tuff Golem were the three mobs that players were able to vote for one of them to be included in the game through the Minecraft Mob Vote 2022 event. The Minecraft Live 2022 livestream revealed that Sniffer managed to win, accumulating more than 55% of the overall vote and leaving both the Rascal and the Tuff Golem in the dust.
Along with the Sniffer, Minecraft 1.20 update also added the Camel. It is considered a rideable mob, and with a Saddle, two players will be able to ride this new creature that has the Dash ability that lets the Camel walk faster or jump over obstacles. Most aggressive mobs also won’t be able to reach you and your friend when riding one because Camels are quite tall. Since Mojang considered Cacti to be pretty useless, when the update drops, Camel can be bred with a Cactus in order to produce a baby Camel.
Minecraft is available on PC, Android, iOS, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation platforms.
