The Division‘s long awaited beta will finally go live on January 28th as announced by Mikel Reparaz on Ubisoft’s Ubiblog. The beta will have a 24-hour early access to those who have pre-ordered the game for their system of choice and on January 29th, those given beta access through signing up for the beta will be given access as well. Set in a post-pandemic Manhattan, The Division is a third-person shooter/RPG in which players are left behind to rebuild the world after a massive viral outbreak brought down the United States Government in 5 days. The beta will allow players to access the early game missions and be able to play in The Division’s PVP mode, Dark Zone.

Dark Zones were left behind when the Military made their withdrawals from certain areas and left behind many high end weapons and tools that you can put to use. The selling point of this mode is your allies can kill you for these rewards as well as enemies and the only way to get your new gear assigned to your character is to get air lifted out of the Dark Zone. This brings a very interesting take on the PVP model in which you must be aware of not only enemies looking to loot your body of that new rare shotgun you found, but also keep notice on your allies who may be looking to do the same.
The Division’s closed beta is set to launch January 28th with the full game looking at a release date of March 28th.
