After exploring the majority of Paldea in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, some Trainers might come to realize they are missing the Normal-type sloth, Slakoth. Evolving into Vigoroth at Level 18 and Slaking at Level 36, Slakoth is rare pocket monster spawn in the Field Egg Group. Besides its rare spawn rate, one of the main reasons many players might have never encountered this Pokémon is that it prefers to spend its time resting in trees. More specifically, this monster does not wander about at ground level like Eevees or Scatterbugs in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Instead, it prefers to hide atop branches like the Grass- and Dragon-type Applin.

Catching Slakoth in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
According to the in-game Pokédex of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Slakoth inhabits a single yet large portion of the world map. In particular, Trainers can encounter this sloth Pokémon within the southeastern regions of South Province (Area Five) and South Province (Area Three). While it can spawn anywhere within this area, players have found two ideal spots to search.
Based on gameplay footage provided by the YouTube channel 100% Guides, one of the best locations to search for Slakoth in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the two trees near the watery bog near the eastern corner of South Province (Area Five). Other pocket monsters might spawn on the branches of these two trees, but Slakoth will eventually appear if Trainers are persistent. If players spot the sloth up in the tree, they must Mount their Koraidon or Miraidon and activate the Boost ability to ram the tree’s trunk. After a brief delay, the Slakoth will fall to the ground, and players can finally catch this rare Normal-type pocket monster.
If players are still struggling to get Slakoth to spawn, Game8 suggests that Trainers use the “Picnic Table Method.” This approach exploits triggering the picnic sequence to reset the nearby Pokémon within the area. Trainers can perform this repeatedly until they see that Slakoth has spawned on one of the tree branches. Game8 also recommends that fans eat a meal with the buff Encounter Power: Normal to increase the rate at which Slakoth will appear at this location.
