The Evolution Fighting game tournament is returning with some notable additions to its roster of games for Evo 2016.
The games on display will be Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat X, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Pokken Tournament, Killer Instinct, Tekken 7, Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
Persona 4 Ultimax has been dropped and Ultra Street Fighter IV has been swapped out in favor of Street Fighter V. Street Fighter V, Tekken 7 and Pokken Tournament are all new to the prestigious tournament, and are sure to give viewers plenty of intense matches.
Evo 2016 will gather the best of the best for each fighting game and matching them up against each other to see who will come out on top. The victors can receive upwards of $50,000 in winnings, along with a gold fighting stick to commemorate their prowess in the genre.
The street Fighter tournament is often the main draw, pitting pros like Daigo and last year’s winner Momochi against each other. However, Super Smash Bros. Melee has seen a massive spike in popularity and this will be Pokken Tournaments biggest competition to date, so we will see how the games community has grown.
Evo 2016 will take place from July 15 to July 17, 2016, at the LAs Vegas Convention Centre.
