Speaking with Thops at the Church of Irith in Elden Ring
This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

If Tarnished travelers plan on completing Sorcerer Thops’s questline in Elden Ring, it is essential that they know where to find a landmark known as the Church of Irith. This church is located atop the southern plateau of Liurnia of the Lakes, behind the northern walls of Stormveil Castle. Similar to other churches across the Lands Between, players will discover a Sacred Tear at the altar of the Church of Irith’s interior. This item is used for upgrading one’s Flask, increasing the uses of Crimson or Cerulean Tears. To reach the Church of Irith’s location, Tarnished adventurers have two primary options.

Finding the Church of Irith in Elden Ring

Two Ways to Reach Church Of Irith Location in Elden Ring

The first way to get to the Church of Irith in Elden Ring is by braving Stormveil Castle and defeating Godrick the Grafted. Once the demigod has been slain, the throne room near the back of the keep will become accessible. Tarnished adventurers can pass through this chamber to reach the northern exit of Stormveil.

After exiting Stormveil Castle, players will find themselves at the Lake-Facing Cliffs, the first Site of Grace in Liurnia of the Lakes. If Tarnished travelers follow the main trail to the west, they will find the Church of Irith in Elden Ring. Nevertheless, not everyone might feel they are ready to get through Stormveil Castle and face Godrick. After all, Margit, the Fell Omen, is considered to be one of the most challenging bosses of the game, despite being an early encounter. Luckily, the Lands Between offers an alternate path to reach the Church of Irith that does not involve clearing Stormveil Castle.

The second method of getting to the Church of Irith in Elden Ring starts at the Stormhill Shack Site of Grace, where players encounter Roderika. If adventurers follow the winding path to the Castleward Tunnel, they will find themselves near the main gate of Stormveil. Instead, continue on the trail branching northward, the route that goes under the giant overpass connected to Stormveil. At the end of the path sits a crumbled bridge with a Finger Reader. Players must go to the end of the bridge and drop onto the cliffside trail on the left. Hugging the keep’s wall, follow the narrow pathway to enter Liurnia. According to YouTuber Shark R, players who follow this trail will eventually find the Lake-Facing Cliffs and the Church of Irith in Elden Ring.

Elden Ring is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
