With the popular rise of the survival genre, game developers are meeting the challenge to design interactive and hostile worlds head on. With so many companies getting in on the action, there is tight competition to develop environments more immersive and realistic than ever. As a result, game companies are coming up with some pretty creative innovative settings for players to overcome. The Solus Project might be the most anticipated survival game you haven’t heard of. Developed by Teotl Studios , it is set for an early access release in the Steam marketplace on February 18th. Why is it anticipated? The setting takes place on an the deserted alien planet Gliese-6143-C. There are no wild creatures or sentient life on the planet (that we know of.) The only danger is your own biological needs. The antagonists here are the various and complex weather occurrences that Teotl Studios has created. Typically, games that incorporate weather elements include temperature and rain, while Solus also include wetness, humidity, windspeed, and natural disasters. The Solus Project has intentionally gone the extra mile to create something more realistic and impressive than you run-of-the-mill survival titles. Inside the world you will not only be exploring the surface, but extensive and elaborate underground cave systems, revealing that you weren’t always alone on Gliese-6143-C. A problem that can often occur in exploration titles is the inevitable observation of graphic models being used over and over again as filler.
