You must obtain Gold Camo for any gun class you plan to acquire Platinum Camo. Once you have unlocked the Gold Camo, you must complete specific tasks to unlock the platinum Camo.

Unlike in previous games of Call of Duty, unlocking Platinum Camo is not very difficult since functions have been made simple in Modern Warfare 2. Also, you need to unlock the Platinum Camo for each weapon class to obtain the Mastery Camo, which is available in the Polyatomic and Orion categories.

How to Unlock the Platinum Camo in MW2?

You can unlock the Platinum Camo in MW2 for each weapon by completing the specific tasks after acquiring the Gold Camo for that particular weapon class. The most straightforward way to reach the  Platinum Camo is to get it by one weapon class at a time. You must first unlock the Gold Camo for the weapon class, and then you can start working on tasks to acquire Platinum Camo.

Assault Rifles, SMGs25, Battle Rifles, and Snipers need 25 longshot kills, while Shotguns need 20 longshot kills. You can acquire Platinum Camo for Pistols with 10 longshot kills, while Melee and Riot Shield need 10 double kills. Also, you need to Destroy 25 enemy killstreaks, equipment, or vehicles to acquire Platinum Camo for Launchers.

Also, remember each weapon category requires a different distance to take long shots. For example, Assault Rifles need kills from 38 meters away, while it is only 12.5 meters for Shotguns. You must remember these distances to take long shots and complete the tasks.
