The Steven Stone Set is a five-piece collection of Avatar Items in Pokémon GO that Trainers can earn by participating in the Battle League, the game’s PvP Mode. For those unfamiliar with Steven Stone, he is a character that has appeared or has been mentioned multiple times throughout the Pokémon franchise. He is best known for serving as the Pokémon League Champion in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. This dual-title took place in the Hoenn region and introduced Generation III. Long-time fans of pocket monsters will likely have fond memories of this Game Boy Advance classic from 2003, but newcomers or younger Trainers might have never heard of Steven Stone.

Unlocking the Steven Stone Avatar Item Set in Pokémon GO

As noted above, the primary way Trainers can unlock the Steven Stone Avatar Item Set in January 2023 of Pokémon GO is by entering the PvP arena and battling other players online. Specifically, each of the set’s five pieces is tied to a Battle League Rank of the Season. At Legend Rank, they will have acquired all five Avatar Items.

According to sources at GGRecon and Eurogamer, here is a table containing Rank requirements and rewards regarding the Steven Stone Avatar Item Set in Pokémon GO: 

Avatar Item Unlock Requirement Rank Prerequisite
Steven Stone Rings Trainers must achieve Ace Rank. After reaching a Rating of 2,000 and Rank of 21, Trainers will achieve Ace in Battle League.
Steven Stone Shoes Trainers must achieve Veteran Rank. After reaching a Rating of 2,500 and Rank of 22, Trainers will achieve Ace in Battle League.
Steven Stone Top Trainers must achieve Expert Rank. After reaching a Rating of 23 and Rank of 2,750, Trainers will achieve Ace in Battle League.
Steven Stone Pants
Steven Stone Pose Trainers must achieve Legend Rank. After reaching a Rating of 24 and Rank of 3,000, Trainers will achieve Ace in Battle League.

It should be noted that those who participated in the GO Battle Day: Steven Stone Timed Research will have already unlocked Steven Stone’s Rings. As one would expect, this cosmetic Avatar Item cannot be unlocked for a second time after reaching the Ace Rank. Achieving Legend Rank is far from easy, and players will need to have a solid understanding of elemental strengths and weaknesses for all pocket monsters if they wish to succeed.
