Elden Ring has no shortage of regular enemies who love to punch above their weight class and unfortunately, you’re the punching bag. Among them is the notorious Moongrum Carian Knight miniboss who literally gatekeeps an important entrance to the Raya Lucaria Academy. He’s the only one standing between you and Rennala, so here’s how you beat Moongrum Carian Knight in Elden Ring.

Here’s the thing, this duel doesn’t have to be honorable. The whole Raya Lucaria Academy is a death trap and you can use this to your advantage. So instead of tearing your hair out trying to win with a “fair” fight, try these out:

  • Make Moongrum Carian Knight fall off the elevator.
    1. Run past Moongrum Carian Knight.
    2. Activate the elevator as soon as both of you are on it.
    3. Jump off the elevator.
    4. Moongrum Carian Knight will follow you a bit later and hopefully die from the height.
  • Lure Moongrum Carian Knight into the giant boulder.
    1. At the start of the fight, run back.
    2. Make sure Moongrum Carian Knight chases you.
    3. Fight him on the giant boulder’s pathway.
    4. If you time it right, he’ll get hit by the giant boulder.
  • Bait him into changing his weapons.
    1. Spend a couple of minutes running around and avoiding him.
    2. Moongrum Carian Knight will eventually change weapons.
    3. He’s easier to kill without a shield.

How to Beat Moongrum Carian Knight in a Fight

Now, if you still insist on fighting him fairly because he’s a knight, there are also ways to do it smartly. The third tip above is a good one. But consider these as well:

  • Use a Colossal Weapon (they’re harder to parry).
  • Use Night Comet
  • Try spamming jumping attacks
  • Poison
  • Scarlet Rot
  • Memorize his moves:
MoveDescriptionTips
Parry and RiposteCan parry most attacks and follow up with a deadly riposte that can one-shot players with low Vigor.Use unparryable moves like Jumping Attacks, Flails, or Heavy attacks from Colossal Weapons.
Sword StabA quick, dashing pierce attack that punishes healing attempts.Hard to dodge; stay alert when healing.
Jumping AttackLeaps into the air for a strike; easy to dodge but leaves Moongrum vulnerable.Counter with a quick attack when he lands.
Carian PiercerSummons a large magical sword that thrusts forward, breaking through blocks.Dodge sideways; blocking is ineffective.
Glintblade PhalanxCreates three magical swords that home in on the player.Low damage, but can leave you open for follow-up attacks.

Hopefully, that’s enough for you to beat Moongrum Carian Knight in Elden Ring. It might take several attempts, but at least you kept your honor or something.
