Twitch is one of the biggest supporters of eSports, especially since most of the competitions are streamed via its channels. And now the social video company has announced a partnership withย Psyonix, developer ofย Rocket League,ย to bring the car soccer game its very own Championship Series.
Thisย Rocket Leagueย league will begin on PC and PS4 since the two systems can collaborate with one another. However, the director of eSports at Twitch, Nick Allen, has promised that
Rocket League‘s Championship Series will begin in March and continue for three months, with a prize pool of $75,000 on the line. Competitors must have teams of three to participate. Twitch’s role will be to do what they do best – live streaming the matches to the over 100 million gamers on its site.
“Theย Rocket League Championship Series is our first eSports partnership effort since partnering with Capcom on the Capcam Pro Tour back in 2014,” Allen said. “This marks a venture into a very deep, robust and multiyear relationship, and while we’re not ruling out partnering with other leagues, we’re very selective with the game and developer we’d be open to working with.”
Sinceย Rocket Leagueย has been popular on Twitch since its release, it comes as no surprise that the live streaming company would want to partner up. The video game exploded to the top of many streamers’ queues and has remained there for many months.
