Katie Maloney finally voiced her suspicions over the reason for her divorce from Tom Schwartz, describing his new bar, Schwartz & Sandy’s as the prominent third party. The reality star, who turned up in support of the bar opening on Wednesday’s episode of Vanderpump Rules, couldn’t hide her bitter-sweet feelings through the event, as it stirred memories from their failed marriage.
The episode featured the grand opening of the latest bar in Tom Schwartz and his partner, Tom Sandoval’s collection. For the occasion, the business partners hosted a party for The Daily Mail, and Katie was among the celebrity guests in attendance.
Katie Maloney Explains How The New Bar Came Between Her Marriage To Tom Schwartz
Katie Maloney put on a little drama during the opening party as she and her ex-husband discussed the new project, which she claimed led to their divorce. Amid tears, the TV personality explained how Schwartz and Sandy’s came between their marriage, and why she had mixed feelings about gracing its opening. In a confessional, she divulged:
“I’m trying to be excited for Tom, but this bar has a very complicated history. It put a massive strain on our relationship. It just was a lot more of a presence in my life than I thought it would be, without having say over it.”
Going further, Katie described the bar as a personification of all the marital issues and arguments they ever had in their marriage. She went on to describe Schwartz and Sandy’s as “the other woman” in their marriage.
Tom Schwartz Still Nursed Some Doubts
On his part, Tom admitted he indeed defaulted at some point in their relationship by letting himself “get sucked in” by the new project rather than focus his attention on his wife. Following his admission, Katie pointed out that the bar nearly broke him as it did her, before tearfully asking her ex-husband if it was worth it.
The question seemed to catch Tom Schwartz off guard, as he quickly spat out, “don’t say that,” before attempting to reassure Katie Maloney he never chose Schwartz and Sandy’s over her. However, his reassurances only appeared to aggravate her further, as she retorted:
“Well, I feel like you chose a lot over me. You never chose me in any side, in any argument, even when it was me having your back in things. It just made me feel like you don’t like me.”
Speaking to the cameras, Tom found himself pondering on one tough question his ex-wife threw at him, “was it worth it?” He admitted to asking himself the same question over and over again but never seemed to have an answer to it. Notwithstanding, one thing he knew for sure was that he was madly in love with his new bar. Additionally, he couldn’t scratch the feelings that if he had chosen to stay and fight for his wife and marriage, he would have only prolonged Katie’s pain, making her suffer as she slowly detracted from happiness.
In the end, walking away from the marriage may have served them both in some way, but the lingering question of whether the pros outweighed the cons continues to haunt them.
