Players of The Division that are roaming around the Dark Zone seem to be largely avoiding each other in the PvP focused area for the sake of holding onto their loot. Developer Ubisoft Massive doesn’t seem to like this and they plan on changing it.

During Massive’s State of the Game stream, the developer confirmed that the competitive state of the Dark Zone isn’t turning out as it was originally planned. In response to this, Massive confirmed that they are making several tweaks to the way players play in the PvP enabled area.

The Division
There are penalties for dying in the Dark Zone. Worse penalties if you’re a rogue agent.

One adjustment that will be taking place is the penalty for becoming a rogue agent (a player who has become hostile toward another player). When players die in the Dark Zone, they lose experience, DZ funds, DZ keys, and any loot they picked up from killing mobs. When dying as a rogue agent, the penalty for dying would be a lot more severe.

The Division players who are brave enough to venture into the Dark Zone also noticed another problem with the area that Massive touched on in their stream. The problem is the rusher enemy type that would give these players grief with a shotgun without any concern for their own well-being. As of now, Massive doesn’t have any plans to make changes to the enemies in the Dark Zone. Their response to the players who had these concerns was simply: “Get good.”

Tom Clancy’s The Division is now available for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
