Want to know how to build on Water in Sons of the Forest? Like the previous game in the series, Sons of the Forest provides players with almost endless building options. You can build a house of any size and shape, or even a treehouse, but what about a body of water? Unfortunately, construction on the water is not one of the main mechanics; this is quite logical given the primitiveness of your character’s tools and building materials. However, it doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Our guide is here to help you and tell you how to build on Water in Sons of the Forest.

How to Build House on Water in Sons of the Forest

A house on the water has many unconditional advantages, and we understand those who want to build it. Mutants and cannibals will not be able to get you in the water, and those who manage to get to you will be much less than if you lived on land. And besides, to see the sunrises on the lake is very beautiful. But the benefits are accompanied by a hell of a building process because you have to resort to bugs.

To begin with, we advise you to prepare more logs since these will serve as the building material and your house foundation. It is worth clarifying that the house will be above the water on wooden piles. And be prepared that you cannot build in the middle of the lake. In any case, you must insert the logs into the ground at a shallow depth. Now that we have clarified the basic details, here are the steps you need to follow to build on Water in Sons of the Forest:

  • First, set one log upright at a depth of about half a meter. After that, place another log on top of the previous 45-degree floor, as shown in the first image above.
  • After that, climb up the log and set another log at 45 degrees, but on the other side of the pillar. You should get a design similar to a triangle.
  • After that, pick up another log and go down to the very edge of the far log. Let go of the log you were holding and instantly begin to verticalize the log that was under you. If you do all this quickly and smoothly, you will create a design like in the second image above.

  • Place stumps on the foundation’s top corners to level the floor if you build the house deeper.
  • Finally, when the foundation is ready, you only need to use Planks and logs to make the steps, walls, and house floor.

It sounds pretty simple, but in practice, it takes a lot of effort to exploit the game bug and build the house foundation. So stock up on patience and building materials. After all, living on the water, you will rarely get the local evil monsters.

As of 2023, Sons of the Forest is available only on PC.
