Resident Evil 4 Remake is packed with hidden treasures and puzzles to solve, such as the locked chamber in the Small Cave Shrine. You can find this shrine on the northeastern corner of the Lake, opposite the Lakeside Settlement. The puzzle involves finding the correct order of runic symbols hidden throughout the dank cave. Once you have discovered which markings are the solution, you can approach the device beside the locked door to input the password for accessing the treasure room. Fortunately, the key is entirely visual, so no tricky logic is required to solve this puzzle.

To solve the Small Cave Shrine puzzle in Resident Evil 4 Remake, you need to locate three markings painted on fixed spots throughout the shrine’s cave. Some of them require you to look at the symbol from a specific angle to see the entire illustration.

You will find the first symbol for the Small Cave Shrine puzzle’s solution in Resident Evil 4 Remake near the ladder in the area. It will be displayed as three serpentine lines on a wooden wall. The second marking can be viewed from the second level. After climbing up to the upper floor, look toward the entrance from where you came in with your boat. However, make sure you do so standing behind the back wooden board near the cave wall to see both halves of the symbol. Finally, the third symbol is in the room above the shrine’s locked door. Similar to the second, this marking also involves checking the environment to see the whole picture. Look out the window at the cave wall and the interior to make out the entire symbol.

Once you have found all three symbols, return to the shrine’s button device and input the password in the following order:

  1. Three serpentine wave-shaped lines
  2. Flat “m” marking, which looks similar to a crude drawing of a seagull
  3. Three DNA strands that converge at one point

Once you have pushed these three buttons, the door will open, and you can loot the Small Cave Shrine in Resident Evil 4 Remake. Of course, YouTuber Gamer Guru has shown that if you already know the solution to this puzzle, finding every marking is not necessary. Simply approach the button device and input the code to unlock the door.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStations 4|5.
