If you’re like me then you have spent an ungodly amount of time building settlements and scrounging up materials in Fallout 4. With Fallout 4’s first DLC behind us, this newest edition focuses more on the homestead than the wasteland. Focused towards the builders of the Commonwealth, Fallout 4: Wasteland Workshop has just released a new trailer, teasing the various additions coming to the game. As we can see in the trailer, the ability to build Saw inspired traps will add a sinister new layer of defense to your home. Though their practicality is questionable, the ability to create a maze of blades and spikes for people to traverse is too tempting to pass. The other addition, though fairly innocuous, allows for the laying of gardens so you can plants crops on concrete or steel. This is a big deal as certain locations such as Hangman’s Alley do not offer a ton of space to grow food.

Finally, and arguably the most intriguing addition is allowing the player to not only capture animals but tame them. As we see in the trailer we can use Beta Waves to calm the creatures down and allow them to fight for you. Now some may see this as a great defense, because who wouldn’t want a Deathclaw guarding their front gate? However, creating arenas and forcing your animals to fight for the amusement of settlers only adds to the fun. Other additions that are incoming include new neon signs, more animals to display of your walls, building materials, and a decontamination arc that rids you of radiation. All in all, Bethesda is just making it harder for me to leave my settlement and actually explore the Commonwealth. Not that I’m complaining. Now to start setting up my gladiator arena.  Make sure to check out the newest trailer for the Wasteland Workshop below!
