Valve’s handheld gaming PC, Steam Deck, has hit a significant milestone. According to recent reports, out of the top 100 most-played games on Steam, 76 are either Verified or Playable supported on the Steam Deck. This milestone shows that developers are enthusiastic about the device, and players are also benefiting from its functionality.

Steam Deck Now Supports Nearly All The Most-Played Games

This news was first noticed by the Boiling Steam blog, which tested 97 games in the top 100, excluding Wallpaper Engine, Soundpad, and the Source SDK Base 2007. They found that 73 of those games were Steam Deck playable or verified. Upon further investigation of the remaining three games, Squad, Slay the Spire, and Brotato, it was confirmed that they all functioned seamlessly on the Steam Deck.

Out of the 100 most played, 76 were either Verified, meaning Valve confirms they work flawlessly, or Playable, meaning they work with one or two caveats. However, 21 games from the top 100 don’t work on Steam Deck. These games have extensive anti-cheat software that doesn’t exist on Linux, and developers aren’t interested in finding time to fix it. Games like PUBG, Destiny 2, Rainbow Six Siege, and Rust fall under this category.

Nonetheless, as the Steam Deck platform grows, more hardware optimizations will become available. Future games from bigger developers are also increasingly likely to prioritize supporting the Deck’s operating system of choice. The Steam Deck’s recent data transfer feature and first sale have also generated excitement among gaming enthusiasts. A list of the best Steam Deck accessories is now available.

The success of the Steam Deck can also be attributed to its unique features, including its ability to switch between a handheld and a desktop mode and its customizable controls. With its promising performance and compatibility, the Steam Deck is poised to be a game-changer in portable gaming devices.
