Ti West wants to end his horror trilogy with a bang. A24 has announced the cast for MaXXXine, which will see Mia Goth reprise her role with newcomers like Kevin Bacon, Giancarlo Esposito, Bobby Cannavale, and more. The teaser posted on social media does not give us a date, but it is “coming soon” (seen below).
The sequel, set in the ’80s with Mia Goth, will have plenty of other notable stars in MaXXXine. The other cast members include Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown), musician-turned-actor Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan (Mission: Impossible – Fallout), Lily Collins (Emily in Paris), and Halsey. It is not the first time the filmmaker has brought musicians to star in the trilogy. The first film of the trilogy, X, starred Kid Cudi, who had a significant supporting role. Details on any of the roles beyond the lead are unknown.

The first film followed a group of young people – Maxine (Goth), Lorraine (Jenna Ortega), Bobby-Lyne (Brittany Snow), Jackson (Kid Cudi), Wayne (Martin Henderson), and RJ (Owen Campbell) – trying to make the greatest porn film ever created. They rent out a space on a farm from an old couple (Goth, Stephen Ure) who soon turn hostile and start picking off the group one by one. MaXXXine will follow Mia Goth as the lone survivor as she travels to Los Angeles to become an actress. She had also been able to reprise her role as the old woman, Pearl, in her self-titled prequel that was released later that year.
While serving as an executive producer, Mia Goth will not be co-writing MaXXXine. She had served as a co-writer for Pearl but will be focused on being the lead on top of her producing duties.
The third film is set to be quite different, although we currently do not know what it entails. X was a brutal slasher that might be best described as a horny Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Pearl was a technicolor horror film that kept similar themes about sex but brought a Wizard of Oz aura to it.
No date has been set, but the film will begin production later this month.
