It was revealed back in March that the new Mafia 4 game was in pre-production via some LinkedIn data. The title is being developed by Hangar 13 on Unreal Engine 5. Further information reveals that Mafia 4 will have a steep emphasis on stealth and multiplayer. So, what about a potential Mafia 4 release date?
Mafia 4 Game: Development Status, Potential Release Date
The upcoming addition to the Mafia Franchise is said to incorporate an emphasis on stealth and multiplayer options. But what exactly is the stealth aspect? Previously in Mafia 3, we were met with a stealth system that was somewhat janky and rudimentary, to say the least.
The upcoming title is allegedly going to be set in 1920s Sicily. This would be the next installation in the franchise in nearly a decade. Its development status, paired with its secretive job listing, suggested that the game is still pretty early in development. For a possible Mafia 4 release window, we could expect it to arrive in 2026. However, nothing is currently confirmed yet, so take that with a grain of salt.
Mafia 3 was released in 2016 and had a pretty abysmal launch. The game was riddled with bugs, shoddy graphics, and poor gameplay. But with future updates, the game somewhat redeemed itself.
While it was just but a mere rumor that the upcoming title was being developed, these rumors proved to be true when the new job listings were found on LinkedIn and Reddit. This means Hangar 13 is actually working on a Mafia 4 game.
That’s not all. New information clearly points in the direction of Hangar 13 wanting to hire people that are skilled in the realms of “multiplayer games and/or live game design.”
So what are your thoughts on a Mafia 4 game? When are we going to get a release date for Mafia 4? Will the stealth and multiplayer systems be polished upon launch, or will it be Mafia 3 all over again?
