After years of only accepting annual payments, Amazon has opened up their pricing options allowing customers to pay monthly for Amazon Prime Video or the entire Prime package.
As you can see, paying for a full year up front is still the best value if you’re a regular Amazon user, with the $8.99 package coming in at around $108 at year, and the $10.99 option costing around $132. It could however be great for people who, for example, just want to watch the latest season of Top Gear, or order some last minute Christmas present. Either way, choice is rarely a bad thing.
This new pricing allows customers to enjoy Amazon Prime Video for less per month than Netflix ($9.99), potentially allowing them to draw in users who simply aren’t interested in the other benefits that Prime offers, adding to the already monumental 57 million subscribers.
At the moment, it seems that this is available in the US only, but you can expect to see this rolled out across other regions if it proves to be a success.
