Is Dead Island 2 coming to Steam?
Unfortunately for Steam users, Dead Island 2 will not be on Steam when the game launches. The game will release as an Epic Games Store exclusive for PC gamers. Epic Games is a video game company that rose in providence with the global sensation Fortnite. After the success of Fortnite, Epic Games redirected its focus on its own digital distributor to compete against Steam. Epic Games has been able to secure some highly coveted video games to become Epic Games exclusive for PC, with Dead Island 2 only being one of several.
Dead Island 2’s Epic Games exclusivity is no doubt disappointing to hear from dedicated Steam users. But there is still the possibility that a Steam version of the game will release at a different date. Video game companies will often launch titles as timed exclusives. That means games will only be exclusive to a platform for a limited time before becoming widely available on other platforms.
Dead Island 2’s release date is on April 21. Besides the Epic Game Store, the title will also launch for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Dead Island 2 will come in multiple editions, including Standard, HELL-A, Digital Deluxe, and God Edition.
