Valeria Garza, also known as El Sin Nombre, is one of the important characters in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2‘s story. She is known as the “Scorpion,” Here’s a full breakdown of who Valeria is in MW2 and Warzone 2’s story.
Call of Duty’s Modern Warfare series has always been about their grand narratives and memorable characters. Captain Price and Ghost might be the ones that fans remember this series for, but while these characters shine the most, some other side characters in the story also have an essential role. Kate Laswell, Hadir, and maybe even Nikolai are some of these types of characters. But the one that we’re focusing on today is Valeria Garza in MW2.
Who Is Valeria in MW2?
Valeria Garza is one of the characters introduced in MW2 story mode. She isn’t a straight villain, but she still manages to kill innocent people of Las Almas or any enemy soldiers that threaten her power over the city. But how did she become the El Sin Nombre and gain leadership in the Mexican Las Almas cartel?
Valeria Garza Was a Part of the Mexican Special Forces
Valeria Garza was trained to join the Mexican Special Forces in Las Almas. The crime in Las Almas was on the rise, and a leader called “El Sin Nombre” took over the city’s drug cartel. This became a business in the town, and the special forces became their nemesis to stop the cartel from gaining more power. However, things went wrong when Valeria misled a particular mission for Mexican Special Forces.
Valeria Garza and Alejandro Vargas were on the same team but in different units. However, in a mission to protect the people and stop the raid of La Arana’s son, Valeria’s unit was supposed to prevent El Sin Nombre from creating a big battle and starting a blood bath in the city. The mission is a success, and the forces stop El Sin Nombre, but upon its end, Valeria Garza goes missing. She escorts La Arana (original El Sin Nombre) to the mountains, keeping his enforcers out of the city. However, she planned to kill the cartel leader out of the Special Forces’ command.
The New El Sin Nombre!
In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s campaign story missions, Shadow Company and Task Force 141 forces gain intel on the Mexican cartel’s involvement in moving Hassan’s missiles. They try to capture the leader of the cartel (El Sin Nombre) and Sgt. Johnny “Soap” MacTavish and Alejandro Vargas complete the mission, Just to see that Valeria Garza is the leader!
Alejandro recognizes Valeria pretty quickly after they capture her, and the two share their story while interrogating Valeria for info on Hassan’s missiles’ locations. Here we learn that Valeria Garza has actually killed the previous leader of the Las Almas cartel and replaced herself as the new El Sin Nombre. With this move, she gained power over Las Almas but became the exact nemesis of Alejandro Vargas.
What happened to Valeria Garza After MW2’s Campaign?
Valeria is kept in prison by Mexican Special Forces at the end of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign’s story. However, the new seasons of the game and Warzone 2 continue the narrative, and by the release of Season 3, we now know that Valeria Garza is out of prison with the help of her men. El Sin Nombre has returned, but one crucial detail about her is that she isn’t staying in Las Almas anymore!
The latest story cutscene for Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and MW2 Season 3 indicates Valeria is off to Al-Mazrah. The intel shows that she is looking for a new territory, and she’s probably working with the Al-Qatala to force the U.S. forces and Task Force 141 to focus on the war instead of a drugs cartel. This was her idea to be involved with Hassan’s plans to distract the warlords, and she might be doing it again with Al-Qatala, or the Russian forces (probably Makarov) to maintain the same goal.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 are now available to play on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. You can unlock and choose Valeria Garza as an operator in both games via Battle Pass.
