If you’re playing the new Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC, you might’ve come across the mission to override a Waterwing. This is essential as you won’t be able to explore the rest of the map or advance the story if you don’t do it. Thankfully, this game is great at guiding players to their objectives. Yet, when some of them are underwater and part of a lengthy quest, it is normal to get lost. If you want to unlock this new mount as soon as possible, we’ll tell you how to override the Waterwing in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores.

To override the Waterwing machine in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, you’ll need to progress through the main story. After a cutscene with Aloy and Seyka, you’ll be asked to find some parts to adjust the Sunwing override software. When you collect the parts, you’ll be able to get the item to get this new mount. Yet, there are some things you need to do first.

Waterwing Parts Location

You’ll have to collect parts of this machine before getting the chance to craft the item to control it. To do that, you’ll have to go underwater to collect a few things. While you don’t have to collect many parts, the place is full of Snapmaws, making the trip harder.

Once you dive underwater, you’ll need to use your Focus to scan the area and follow the pings the scan sends. You’ll notice two pings. One on the seafloor and another on a cliff. Head to both places to grab all the parts and then swim to the surface to escape the machines.

Once you have the parts, you must go to a bench to craft the new item. You’ll find it under the “Quest” category; all you have to do is hold X to craft the override. After you get the item, you’ll receive a call from Seyka, who will tell you where the Waterwings are. Head to this location and sneak your way through it until you get the chance to control the machine. At this point, you can override them whenever you want. While the Sunwing machine is everyone’s favorite, it is nice to see another flying mount that works in this new area. Unlocking it will make your exploration much easier in this fantastic new DLC.

This is all we have on how to override the Waterwing in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores. Now that you know how to do it, progress to the main story as fast as you can to get the chance to capture this new machine.
