The long running development of Mighty No. 9 is coming to a hopeful end, with the game poised to launch June 21 in the Americas and Asia, and June 24 for the other regions.
The spiritual successor to Mega Man was the most successful Kickstarter campaign when it received $3.8 million USD in funding, significantly more than the $900,000 minimum it was asking for. Although hopes were high at the beginning of development, Keiji Inafune’s new development studio Comcept has received some bitterness from backers and fans alike after having dropped a handful of promised features from the game, citing budget constraints as the main cause.
Despite several delays, Comcept has assured fans in a recent update that the June release date is “set in stone”.
โWe understand that as a result of the various delays we have disappointed and let down our fans, but we are happy to finally be able to deliver the game to everyone who brought us this far. With the game having โgone goldโ we are in the last final stages of being able to deliver it into your hands, be that via your favorite retail outlet, or via digital channels. Therefore the release date we are announcing is set in stone and there will be no further delays for the game.โ
With Mighty No. 9 going gold, it means copies of the disc has started to be printed, a good sign indeed.
