The track and field sporting industry is in mourning as recent reports reveal Tori Bowie is dead. The tragic news comes as a big blow as Olympic gold medalist Bowie was one of the United States’ pride. Per the reports, the public will have to wait for results from more investigation, as Bowie’s cause of death is unknown. In the meantime, tributes from far and wide continue to pour in, celebrating the star’s contribution to the sporting industry.

Inside Tori Bowie’s Demise 

On Tuesday, Olympic gold medalist Bowie’s body was found at her home in Winter Garden, Florida. The track and field icon’s management company released a statement the following morning, confirming that Tori Bowie was dead. In the statement, the management expressed their shock and devastation regarding Bowie’s demise. They described the athlete as a “client, dear friend, daughter, and sister.” The statement also revealed Bowie was a champion and beacon of light that shined brightly.

“We’re truly heartbroken and our prayers are with the family and friends,” the management’s last words read.

Meanwhile, other details of the star’s death, including the cause of death, are under wraps as investigations continue. Bowie died at the young age of 32, but her achievements will never be forgotten. She proved to be a gem in 2016 at the Summer Olympics in Brazil when she brought home three medals.

Bowie secured the gold medal as a member of the women’s 4 x 100-meter Relay Team. Olympic gold medalist Bowie also bagged another medal after coming second in the women’s 100-meter dash, finishing with a time of 10.83 seconds. In the 200m event, Bowie finished behind Dafne Schippers, winning bronze. The following year, at the 2017 World Athletics Championship in London, Bowie made a name for herself. She won the 100m dash with a blistering 10.85 seconds and became the world’s fastest woman. 

Athletes Pay Their Respect

Since the news of Tori Bowie’s death broke on the internet, many athletes have paid tribute to the star. In a tweet, Jamaican Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce described Bowie as a great competitor and source of light. Olympian Javelin thrower Julius Yego shared the same sentiments, noting that the world of athletics had lost a great champion and sports patriot.

The United States Track and Field team was not left out as they honored their own. They expressed their sadness over Olympic gold medalist Bowie’s death, adding that her impact on the sport was immeasurable. Others who shared tributes include World Athletics, Noah Lyles, and Jade Johnson.
