To open Red Chests in Jedi Survivor, you will need to have Electro Dart unlocked for BD-1. His ability is unmissable and is unlocked as a part of the main story mission. The particular mission is Koboh – Rescue Zee From the Lucerhulk, but it comes only later in the game. So, if you have already stumbled upon some Red Chests in Jedi Survivor, you will probably be left frustrated as you can’t do a thing to open them.

Nevertheless, there is a way to get the ability a few missions earlier. When you reach the Mountain Ascent, you will get to the Fogged Expanse. Traverse the area until you get to the crash site of an imperial ship. There will be a few enemies around the wreckage. You will need to defeat them and then get into the ship. Once you are in, a cutscene will start in which BD-1 will discover the upgrade in the center console of the ship. Once you unlock the Electric Dart ability for BD-1, you will be able to open Red Chests.

Now, enter the BD-1 Visor and change to the Electro Dart ability when you find a Red Chest. You will recognize the Red Chest by its glowing red paint and an antenna-like piece sticking on the side of the box. There should be a blue cylindrical light around the chest. This is the glowing electricity into which you will need to aim and shoot the dart into. If successful, Red Chest will start glowing green. Now that you have unlocked it, approach the chest. You can now loot it by pressing a button assigned to the particular mechanic.

Red Chests in Jedi Survivor are not hard to open. You just need specific tools for that action. In this case, the Electro Dart ability. Once you get it, everything will be easier, as the Electro Dart is used for many things in Jedi Survivor.
