Monster Hunter fans are going to have a busy Summer

Capcom, (you know the guys that refuse to give me a new Onimusha game) has announced that Monster Hunter Generations will be launching in North America on July 15 for the Nintendo 3DS. That isn’t the only good news for Monster Hunter fans, as Capcom also announced a New Nintendo 3DS XL Monster Hunter Generations Edition. This new system will be available on the same day.

This New Nintendo 3DS XL Monster Hunter Generations Edition (that is a mouthful) comes in a “beautiful blue hue and features artwork of the game’s Fated Four, an elite group of powerful new monsters.” As everyone should be aware by now, the “new” 3DS system will allow you to play the game with enhanced graphics, improved camera control options with the C-stick functionality. Although the most important feature for this game might be the mappable ZL and ZR buttons that can be used for Hunter Arts. Keep in mind that the game will need to be purchased separately from the new hardware

This is a very nice looking 3DS, I might have to pick one up

A bit about the game for those curious or new to Monster Hunter. As with previous games in the series, it will allow players to hunt down and battle large and terrifying creatures. This time around in more than 20 different locations. You can do your hunting either solo or via local and online co-op play with up to three other hunters. If you have friends to play with this is actually one of the best multiplayer experiences you can have on a handheld.

The game will have a heavy emphasis on collecting items from these hunts, and then using them to craft more powerful weapons and armor, so you can then hunt bigger and more powerful monsters. This time around there are some new gameplay mechanics, these include four different Hunting Styles and powerful abilities known as Hunter Arts to equip. Capcom promises that this is the most customizable Monster Hunter experience to date.

Those interested (and why wouldn’t you be?) will be able to jump into the Monster Hunter Generations demo that will be released this summer of the game’s July 15 launch. Capcom has promised more details on the demo and the game itself to come at a later date. You can also keep an eye on their official website for updates.
