In order to craft even better gear in V Rising, you’ll eventually have to find and beat Ziva the Engineer. It’s by defeating her that you learn the recipes for Radium Alloy, a Fabricator, and Empty Canisters, which the latter is used to craft Sludge-Filled Canisters. Just Radium Alloy alone is a prerequisite for so many items, from resource bags to Ancestral weapons. With Ziva the Engineer on your hit list, it’s time to go hunting!

First things first: tracking down Ziva the Engineer in V Rising. Assuming she’s your next target, you can actually track her scent from the V Blood menu. As a level 60 boss, she’s much further up the tree.

If you track Ziva the Engineer, it’ll lead you straight to the Trancendum Machine Factory in Gloomrot. Ziva is at the back of the area, in the main build itself. I recommend clearing the entire factory of enemies and by the doorways. This will give you ample wiggle room to move around without unwanted distractions.

Defeating Ziva the Engineer in V Rising is a different matter entirely. She’s actually pretty tough for an old lady due to the three weapons she alternates between, but with a little strategy you can counter her fairly easily:

  • Electric Gun: Can fire a projectile that bounces off objects and stuns. Also shoots orbs of electricity that follow you. Strafing, dashing, and constantly moving will help you avoid both. The furnaces will block the electrical projectile, but not the orbs. Skeletons summoned by your Corrupted Skull ability can aggro the electric orbs while you pummel Ziva.
  • Flamethrower: Spews fire in a circle if you get too close. Ziva also loves dashing towards you before unloading a stream of fire. When she’s using the flamethrower, just keep your distance; the stream has a short range. If you have ranged attacks, now’s the time to use them.
  • Gatling Gun: Fires bullets in a fan and, every now and then, she’ll fire continuously. Again, she also likes to dash towards you to close the gap before fire a round of bullets. There are four furnaces you can use for cover. Ziva’s backside is much more vulnerable at this time.

In addition to her guns, Ziva the Engineer will occasionally summon little robots and jetpack around, dropping little bombs for you to avoid. The robots are very weak and can be taken down with a few basic hits. The spear’s Harpoon ability is really handy here since you can harpoon the robots and pull them towards you while you’re behind a pillar.

Once you beat Ziva the Engineer in V Rising, you’ll learn the recipes for the Fabricator, Empty Canister, Radium Alloy, and also unlock the Ball Lightning spell. If it looks familiar, it’s because it’s the same ability Ziva used on you.
