Those eagerly awaiting the June 21st release date of No Man’s Sky may want to sit down for this one. Sources report that the ambitious title has been delayed.
While no new release date has been announced, emails have been received by certain retailers instructing them to cover up the release date on posters with “coming soon” stickers.
The game was first announced in late 2013 and took the internet by storm. Each time it was showed a release date was eagerly awaited but was never given. A date was finally given earlier this year, and it appeared that we wouldn’t have too long to wait.
No Man’s Sky is an exploration game set within a procedurally generated universe. Players will start on a small planet where they can harvest the necessary materials to build a spaceship and take off among the stars. They can then choose how they want to spend the rest of their time in the game. You can mine resources and use them to better your ship and build facilities, not unlike Minecraft, take on trading or leap from planet to planet, fighting harrowing battles and exploring mysterious planets.
The procedurally generated nature of the game means that every planet is randomly generated, so you never know what to expect when you enter the atmosphere. You may find rare resources, strange species of animals, or even just a barren planet. It will apparently take players billions of years to see every planet in the game, and even though it is a multiplayer world, players will rarely run into one another.

All signs point to it being a truly momentous game, with plenty to talk about both leading up to and after its eventual release. For now, No Man’s Sky is still slated for a June 21st release, only on PS4 and PC. But stay tuned to The Nerd Stash as this story develops.
