People were alarmed back when Disney first bought the rights to Star Wars, but it all ended up working out okay. Not only was The Force Awakens an unqualified success, but it puts Star Wars comics into the capable hands of one of Disney’s other properties; Marvel Comics. So it was inevitable, really, that The Force Awakens comic adaption would follow pretty soon after the movie;

The Force Awakens comic will be a six issue miniseries that, naturally, will retell the story of the blockbuster hit that returned us to a galaxy far, far away. Given that the novelization revealed new details about the plot and setting that didn’t make it into the movie, this may be our chance to find out some new tidbits to tide us over until Episode VIII (and Rogue One) hit cinemas.

Don’t expect to find out who her parents are before Episode VIII though…

The writer for the mini-series is Chuck Wending, the art is done by Luke Ross and the cover art is by Esad Ribic (who is fresh from his work on Marvel’s Secret Wars storyline).

The first issue of The Force Awakens Comic will be hitting stores on the 22nd of June.
