POTENTIAL GAME OF THRONES SPOILERS AHEAD!
After just a few deft translations, the titles of the final episodes of Game of Thrones season six have been revealed. We already knew the name of episode seven: “The Broken Man.” As with many other titles of Game of Thrones episodes, this could indicate a great many characters. The most obvious was near the end of episode six: Edmure Tully. He has been reduced to a bargaining chip in the larger gameplan of Walder Frey. He is not the only broken man on the series, however; Bran Stark, Theon Greyjoy, Jorah Mormont, and Jaime Lannister are all “broken” in some way. Even smaller characters (Lancel Lannister) or long forgotten characters (The Hound, Beric Dondarrion) could fit into that theme.
Thanks to SpoilerTV translating the episode names from the German channel Sky, we now know and can speculate what the last three episodes will focus on. The final three episodes are titled:
- Episode 8: “Niemand” (Translation: “No One”)
- Episode 9: “Die Schlacht der Bastarde” (Translation: “The Battle of the Bastards”)
- Episode 10: “Die Winde des Winters” (Translation: “The Winds of Winter”)
The eighth episode will most likely focus on Arya, who seems like she was giving up the idea of becoming “No One” after all, and it will probably culminate in some sort of showdown between her and the Waif. The ninth Game of Thrones episode of the season is usually “The Big One,” and it appears we will get the battle for Winterfell for our penultimate episode of season six. Better hope Littlefinger treats you better than he treated your dad, Jon Snow. The final episode of the season pays homage to the yet-to-be-released sixth book in the series, also entitled The Winds of Winter. We saw during Sam’s awkward family dinner in episode six that many in Westeros still do not believe the White Walkers even exist, much less pose a threat. Could episode ten finally be when word gets out that magical ice zombies are coming? Or do “The Winds of Winter” indicate that the White Walkers get across the Wall and start sweeping through the continent?
We will know the answers to some of these questions in just a few short weeks (and probably have about 300 more to answer). Stay tuned to The Nerd Stash for our episode reviews every Sunday after Game of Thrones airs.
