These last few weeks, there have been a lot of rumors as who might be replacing Daniel Craig as James Bond in future films, since Craig announced his departure. Names from Tom Hiddleston to even Gillian Anderson who could possibly be the first ever female Bond, have been rumored. With director Sam Mendes also leaving, there hasn’t been any word as to who might take over on the director front, till now.
According to a report from RadioTimes, Susanne Bier has been shortlisted to take over for Sam Mendes. Bier recently worked on the miniseries The Night Manager, based on the James Le Carre novel of the same name, that just finished its run in the states on AMC. If selected, she would be the first woman to direct a Bond film.
For those who are looking to see Tom Hiddleston to play Bond, Bier could be what makes that a reality. Hiddleston starred in The Night Manager as the main character. Some have seen his performance in The Night Manager as an audition of sorts to play Bond. Jamie Bell, who was in last year’s Fantastic Four bomb and can be seen on AMC’s Turn, is also in talks to play Bond after meeting with producer Barbara Broccoli.
With only rumor and no exact release date hopefully, we will learn something more concrete in the near future. If it is any indication, with the last few movies having a 3 year wait in-between each one and that holds up, expect something soon. Maybe comic con, which is next month, perhaps? For those who don’t want to wait, you can watch last year’s Spectre, which recently released on DVD and Blu-ray.
Who would you like to see take over as James Bond? Do you think Tom Hiddleston is a great choice? Sound off in the comments below!
