After a certain point in Diablo 4, you might notice that a lot of Elite enemies– bosses included have a tendency to kill unprepared players in one hit. This is a problem in Hardcore servers, especially when coupled with the usual server issues. One solution, however, is the Scroll of Escape, and when used right, it can be a godsend to your Hardcore run. Here’s how to farm and use the Scroll of Escape in Diablo 4.

How to Farm the Scroll of Escape in Diablo 4

The Scroll of Escape is a unique item exclusive to Hardcore mode in Diablo 4, providing the only way to save your progress during dangerous battles. Itโ€™s essential for surviving Hardcore mode, where death is permanent.

  • You can only get the Scroll of Escape in Hardcore mode; itโ€™s unavailable in non-Hardcore servers.
  • Your character must be at least level 20 for the scroll to drop.
  • Defeat enemies in Hardcore mode to obtain the Scroll of Escape.
  • The drop rate is low but it seems to increase the closer you are to World Tier 4.

Remember, the Scroll of Escape is not a foolproof solution. Itโ€™s a rare item meant for emergencies, and you should always play as if you canโ€™t afford any mistakes. It’s better to avoid playing if you are experiencing server issues in Hardcore mode. But do keep at least one scroll handy, especially when facing bosses.

How to Use Scroll of Escape

Using the Scroll of Escape is straightforward, but itโ€™s vital to have it accessible when you need it most.

  • Place the scroll in the Emote Wheel for quick access during battles.
  • Alternatively, you can use it from the Consumables tab by right-clicking it.
  • The game might use a Scroll of Escape if you get disconnected due to server issues.
  • Additionally, the game might use a Scroll of Escape if you exit the game during a battle.

If the scroll is used, your character will be transported to the nearest teleportation circle in a safe town, saving you from accidental permanent death. Keep in mind that sometimes, the Scroll of Escape might not work especially if you’re lagging too much or if the problem is on your end (i.e. your internet).
