Over 67,000 Kickstarter backers, 3.8 million dollars, numerous delays in development, and a fudged release. Mighty No. 9 was a game so many wanted, so many were excited about, and now, so many are puzzled and disappointed by.

While I’ll steer clear from a review/opinion of the game itself, as I have yet to play it. It appears as though the internet chatter and some rumors surrounding the game are proving a very rocky launch for Keiji Inafune and the devs at Comcept. There are unconfirmed reports circulating that the planned Wii U launch is suffering the most egregious performance problems. Issues like input lag and loading freezes are just some of the issues listed.

Humble Bundle buyers/users are not the only ones experiencing problems loading the game. A number of Twitter users have reported not being able to use their digital codes to even download the game. The latest Kickstarter update on June 21st does point out that there are common delays for releases even in digital storefronts, which is true.

Unfortunately, we do have two pieces of bad news regarding the Mighty No. 9 release. There were issues regarding the publishing process for the Xbox 360 version of the game, and a certification bug was found in the final round of testing which is delaying the release of that version for several days.

Backers of the project haven’t been shy about voicing their frustrations or concerns either. The screenshots below shows just some of these examples:

Rocky launches are unfortunately not as uncommon as we might hope. Although, most of the frustration from Mighty No. 9 hopefuls probably stems from the numerous delays and development issues they’ve endured.

If you’re a backer or a fan looking to buy the game for its fairly low $19.99 price tag, Comcept held a live stream to promote the launch. Be warned, it’s a little awkward, long, and while it’s interesting to hear from Inafune himself about the development delays and the game itself, he doesn’t seem too excited. They even cover the (mostly) negative feedback the game has been getting, and this is before all these release issues popped up.

To top it all off, even gaming mascots are having a field day with the game and the release news:
