Halloween is rapidly approaching, and Marvel is getting ready for another “Trick-Or-Read.” The holiday-themed event offers the opportunity for fans to nab some best-selling comics for free. This year’s haul includes issues of Amazing Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Moon Knight, and more. Halloween is the perfect time for newcomers and kids to get invested in the world of Marvel comic books. So, make sure you plan your trick-or-treating route near your local comic book shop.

Marvel’s Trick-Or-Read is an annual event that takes place on October 4. The comic publisher offers five free titles to fans to add to their trick-or-treat bag. While the event occurs near Halloween, the offered titles are not necessarily spooky. Although, that doesn’t mean they aren’t just as heart-pounding as any horror story.

In preparation for this year’s event, Marvel has revealed the five titles up for grabs in the Trick-Or-Read event. They include Amazing Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Moon Knight, Star Wars: The High Republic, and Spidey and His Amazing Friends.

Featured Issues

The first comic up for grabs in Marvel’s Trick-Or-Read is Amazing Spider-Man: The Birth of Tombstone #1. This is a reprint of Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr.’s Amazing Spider-Man #3. With Tombstone playing a key role in upcoming Amazing Spider-Man storylines, this is the perfect opportunity to catch up with the Marvel villain.

Next up is Captain Marvel: Higher, Faster, Further #1. This is a rerun of Kelly Sue DeConnick and Dexter Soy’s Captain Marvel #1. This is perfect for those planning to see the upcoming The Marvels film. Also, up for grabs is the reprint of Jed Mackay and Federico Sabbatini’s Moon Knight #18 in Moon Knight: Knight of Blood #1. This action-packed issue is a great standalone that sees the titular hero team up with Tigra against some vampires.

Then there is the reprint of Star Wars: The High Republic #5 from Cavan Scott and Ario Anindito. Renamed Star Wars: The High Republic – Attack of the Hutts #1, it serves as a pivotal moment in the Marvel series, mainly as it introduces Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh, who will appear in the Disney+ series The Acolyte next year.

Finally, Spidey and His Amazing Friends Halloween Trick-Or-Read 2023 aims to give young readers an introduction to Spidey’s adventures. These five issues are a great intro to several Marvel series and the perfect way to celebrate Marvel’s Trick-Or-Read event.
