This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Once you reach the Imperial Gardens in Remnant 2, you’ll encounter a beautiful yet ominous aerial creature known as Mantagora. Likened to a giant red manta ray, this hostile beast will soar across the sky, raining explosive projectiles in its wake. In a way, it behaves similarly to Monster Hunter’s “B-2 bomber,” Bazelgeuse. Remnant 2’s Mantagora doesn’t fight alone; it’s accompanied by waves of ads, including a pesky elite. Moreover, depending on the colossal ray’s flight path, this boss battle could take a while.

The boss battle with Mantagora in Remnant 2 works in a particular, repeating cycle:

  1. Mantagora will fly overhead, firing down large projectiles from the sky.
  2. After it passes, it will fly around another section of the map beyond your visibility.
  3. A wave of ads will spawn during its absence, including a tough elite.

This elite Root monster is inside an insectoid-esque armored shell. Once you defeat it, its true tentacle form will emerge and flee. Quickly kill it before it gets away.

The cycle above will repeat until you’ve whittled away Mantagora’s HP and taken down the boss. While it might seem logical to search for a place with plenty of walls for cover, we recommend against this idea. Mantagora in Remnant 2 is relatively accurate with its projectiles. Accordingly, if you’re in narrow corridors with little space to escape, you’ll get bombarded with little room to dodge.

Therefore, fight Mantagora in an open area where you have plenty of room to roll away from the boss’s bombardment and deal with ads. Additionally, with fewer walls blocking your view, allowing you to easily shoot at the boss as it flies over. Your opponent will always stay airborne, so don’t bother waiting for it to land for your melee strikes.

Another vital thing to mention is making sure to make your shots count. While the ads should provide you with ammo drops for Mantagora’s next flyby, being reckless with your shooting will result in more time spent. As we mentioned above, this boss battle can drag on. It’s not because it’s necessarily challenging, but because Mantagora’s flight path is not always accessible to your gun’s crosshairs. Therefore, be patient but also make sure that your shots land.

If you’re in a group, be sure to use the ping ability to ensure your teammates can spot when Mantagora passes over. Of course, this is less necessary if you’re communicating with voice chat.
