On Monday, the 36-year-old received thousands of encouraging messages after publicly mourning Pam’s death. The singer took to Instagram to share a throwback picture of her mom as a girl. In the black and white snap, Jazmine Sullivan’s mom appeared to be happy as she threw her hands in the air and flashed a big smile, displaying her beautiful dentition. Jazmine accompanied the photo with the caption:

Jazmine Sullivan Speaks About Her Mom’s Cancer Struggle
Jazmine Sullivan’s mom’s demise comes four years after her battle with breast cancer. Throughout the trying experience, Jazmine always spoke about the journey and how it affected their relationship. One such time was during a chat with Janine Rubenstein on PEOPLE Every Day. The songstress disclosed that Pam’s diagnosis brought the two of them closer together. According to Singer Jazmine Sullivan, the illness made her reciprocate all the love and support she received all her life from her mom.
Sullivan further stated that the illness made her take Pam’s advice more seriously. The star noted that in the past, she would feel irritated to hear her mom’s advice sometimes. However, after the diagnosis in 2019, she desired to hear it. Sullivan said it made her realize the importance of having her mom around. Overall, it strengthened the bond between her and Pam. Given the high chances of the illness being hereditary, singer Jazmine Sullivan is now focused on her health. She plans to go for mammogram appointments regularly. Hopefully, she will stay healthy for a long time and continue making great music.
