Xbox One fighting game Killer Instinct will be getting a retail version, in the form of the Definitive Edition.

Killer Instinct launched alongside the X1 as a free-to-play online fighting game. Players who download the game for free from the Xbox store have access to all the game’s features, but will only be able to play with one character, having to pay for additional characters.

Since it’s 2013 release, Killer Instinct has seen a steady stream of content, including a total of 26 playable fighters, and 20 playable stages. Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition will come included with Killer Instinct 1 & 2, originally released in 1994 and 1996 for the SNES and N64 respectively.

The latest season of DLC characters includes guest characters Arbiter from the Halo franchise, Rash from Battletoads, and most recently General RAAM from Gears of War.

Microsoft and developer Double Helix recently released the Windows 10 version of the game, as part of Microsoft’s initiative to bring the two platforms together.

The Definitive Edition launches September 20. It also includes the game’s original soundtrack and a bonus Gold Gargos skin pack. Retailers are currently listing the title for $39.99 for pre-order. The release of a definitive edition likely means there isn’t any more content planned for the game.
