The First Avenger is being immortalized. The previously announced Captain America statue has been shown in all its patriotic glory.

Captain America
The statue as it appears at Comic-Con.

Standing at over 13 feet and weighing over a ton, the bronze statue depicts Steve Rogers with one leg up on a slab of rock while his shield-wielding hand is raised to the heavens. It will first be shown at San Diego Comic-Con this week before traveling the country.

The Star-Spangled Soldier will begin his tour in his hometown of Brooklyn at Prospect Park. The Statue will then be loaded onto the back of a truck and carted around the United States before eventually returning to Brooklyn for an extended stay at the Bed, Bath & Beyond in Sunset Park.

But if you can’t catch a peek at the bronze monument, you can also take your own home. 1/12 versions of the statue will be sold at Comic-Con for $450, while 1/4 versions are available online only due to its heft and size. So act now if you want to celebrate Captain America’s many triumphs in style.

Captain America
What you can take home and marvel at for years to come.

The statue commemorates the 75th anniversary of Captain America. The character first appeared in 1941 in Captain America Comics #1. Since then he has gone on to found The Avengers, fight Iron Man for superhero rights, and even reveal that he has been working for the vile Hydra this entire time.

He has a long and storied history and is the start of Marvel’s rich career as a comics publisher. He has remained their flagship character for years, standing for freedom and unity. Marvel brought the character to the big screen in his definitive cinematic appearance in 2011 with Captain America: The First Avenger, portrayed by Chris Evans.

The newest outfit harkens back to the classics.

He recently graced the silver screen yet again in Civil War, a live-action adaptation of the famous comics event. It brought Spider-Man back into the fold and saw Steve Rogers and Tony Stark fight for what they believed in.

The statue will be at Marvel booth #2329 at San Diego Comic-Con, so go check it out if you are in the area.
