Thanks to the Ascension update in Phasmophobia, players see new levels, equipment, and a cool feature known as the Legacy Badge. Showing off your hard work or time spent in a game is always a nice thing. Although the latest update reset all players, Phasmophobia still wants to show their respect to those who enjoyed the horror game pre-update. In comes the Legacy Badges. Don’t worry if it all seems confusing at first. We’ll discuss everything about Legacy Badges so you know what to expect in the latest version of the game.
What Are Legacy Badges in Phasmophobia?
(Updated on October 11, 2024 – updated links and format)
The Phasmophobia Ascension update brings several new features to the game. One of the most obvious things it does is reset your player level. It’s a way to ensure everyone starts the same. If you played in the past, you are reset to Level 1 though. It fast-tracks you so that you’re all caught up. If you’re totally new to the game, you start at Level 0. However, Phasmophobia wants to acknowledge your pre-update player level and achievements through Legacy Badges.
Once you customize your Badge, it is displayed on the arm of your character avatar. There is nothing more to it than that. It’s a fun little feature to highlight your previous progress in the game.
An important note to keep in mind is that the Legacy Badge is permanent. Once you customize it and move on, you cannot go back and make any changes unless there’s a bug involved with your Badge. We will get further into that later on.
How To Customize Legacy Badges
The moment you launch the game with the new Ascension update, you can customize your Legacy Badge in Phasmophobia soon after. Read through the intro and you will soon reach a screen where you can choose from your unlocked options. You will only see customization options based on your previous level pre-update.
So, those who just started the game before the update may only see one or two options. Meanwhile, those who have excelled 5,000 have more options available. There are three categories you can customize with the Legacy Badge in Phasmophobia:
- Colors
- Backgrounds
- Accents
Colors and Backgrounds have the most customization options with 10 each. Accents only allow for 8 types. Even so, as long as you boasted a high level before the update, you have a host of variations to select.
Customization Issues with the Legacy Badge
With the Phasmophobia Ascension update being so new and the largest for the game, bugs are inevitable. Some players are reporting that they can only choose the top customization option despite being at higher levels before the update.
Over on the official Phasmophobia Discord channel, many players sent their complaints under the Modmail. However, they’ve received an overwhelming amount about the Legacy Badges from the Phasmophobia update. It’s stated there that they are working on a hotfix. In the meantime, they say that you can still save the Badge and play the game.
