Starfield is being set up to be the biggest video game based on space travel and exploration of all time. Within the game and in its DLC, you will have the opportunity to fly to different planets, experience different journeys, and so much more, all within the vacuum of space. You will also have access to different ships for you to do these things. Considering that, we have outlined all ship systems and what they do in Starfield down below so that you are never left guessing whether you have the regular or the premium edition of the game.
All Ship Systems & What They Do
There are seven ship systems that you will need to pay attention to as you add new drives and accessories to your current ship. These six systems are PAR, LAS, BAL, MSL, ENG, SHD, and GRV. We’ve outlined exactly what each of these means and what they do down below:
- PAR
- This is the short word for particle and refers to how much energy is within the ship based on particle-based weaponry and accessories.
- LAS
- This acronym is short for laser and is based on how much energy is within the ship based on laser-based weaponry and accessories.
- BAL
- This acronym is short for the word ballistics and is based on how much energy is within the ship based on ballistic-based weaponry and accessories.
- MSL
- This acronym is short for the word missiles and is based on how much energy is within the ship based on ballistic-based weaponry and accessories.
- ENG
- This acronym is short for the word energy and is based on how much energy is within the ship.
- SHD
- This acronym is short for the word shields and is based on how much energy is within the ship based on shield-based weaponry and accessories.
- GRV
- This acronym is short for Grav Drive and will allow you to travel to other systems as well as narrowly escape combat by flying away.
After that, it will depend on what you add to your ship that will either lessen or fill up those meters to create the best ship for your needs. Everything that you choose to add to your ship will not only chance the way it physically looks, but it will also alter the ship systems, so be careful not to choose Starfield ship systems just because of aesthetics unless you’re prepared to live with whatever those consequences could be.
