It’s not been long since Starfield’s early access started, but a mod named Starfield Upscaler has already replaced the game’s FSR support with DLSS. It comes from the developer of the same job that’s done on Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition, two other Bethesda titles. The mod doesn’t put an obstacle against earning achievements, which is a noteworthy plus. It seems easy to install, but you still have all the responsibility; there’s always a possibility to temporarily break the game by installing mods. If your Nvidia RTX graphic card a bit fails to give the FPS you expected, the mod could be worth trying.
‘Starfield Upscaler’ Mod Delivers DLSS Support Instead of FSR
That’s not the first or only mod available for Starfield. The community is growing rapidly, and tens of mods are already on the Nexus Mods page. PureDark’s Starfield Upscaler is among the most downloaded mods; there’s a simple interface to make a choice between a few presets provided by the developer. The mod also requires a base plugin, which is available under the mod’s installment instructions. It’s worth mentioning that the mod only offers support for RTX cards because some people thought it would gain your card the DLSS feature.
The game only supports AMD’s upscaling technology FSR, even though the statistics claim that Nvidia cards are used on approximatelyย 75 percent of PC builds. That’s probably because of that Bethesda is among the exclusive partners of AMD, but we can still see official DLSS support in the future. AMD stated that it supports letting Bethesda offer Nvidia features on its games. We hope that a consumer-friendly decision will be made after that. A mod can’t exactly do what Nvidia achieves, so it’s best not to expect a stable experience.
