A new Spider-Man Infinity Comic is bringing two popular versions of the web-slinger together for the first time. This week’s debut issue for the arc showcases Earth-616 Spider-Man coming face-to-face with a fan-favorite version of the hero. He meets Peter Parker from PlayStation’s Marvel’s Spider-Man video game. However, this is just the beginning. In this new series, a web of Spider-Men from different universes finds themselves colliding with other webslingers in strange, new dimensions.

This new 12-part arc of colliding Spider-Men comes from Christos Gage, Simone Buonfantino, and Fer Sifuentes-Sujo. Writer Christos Gage is very familiar with the video game version of the Marvel hero. After all, he did co-write Marvel’s Spider-Man for Insomniac Games. So, to finally introduce this video game character to his comic-world counterparts is nothing short of awesome for the writer.

Speaking to Marvel, Gage shared that it was fun analyzing the similarities and differences of the same hero amid two different mediums. This comic offered the opportunity to really dig into the psyche of each Peter Parker and look at what makes them tick. While they are technically the same, there are things that set them apart. In fact, these differences and similarities cause their first meeting to go less than stellar as the two end up fighting each other.

Gage also shared that the villain for this first arc will be none other than The Spot. This Spidey villain is making a lot of headlines this year. Especially after playing a major role in this year’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse film.

A World of Unlimited Possibilities

This is just the next in a long line of Infinity Comics that Marvel releases focusing on its wide universe of characters. These comics are only accessible through Marvel’s Unlimited App, allowing more freedom in how they are shared through the digital platform.

The Spider-Man Infinity Comic releases every Tuesday, and each issue will show off a fun crossover between Spider-Men across the Spider-Verse. However, while the comic does sound like a fun one-off, each issue is canon to Marvel’s main timeline in the Earth-616 universe.
